A dental cleaning is a professional cleaning you receive from your dental hygienist and is usually completed in less than 30 minutes. Cleanings should be performed every six months to prevent excessive plaque buildup. Plaque left untreated can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay. A routine dental cleaning should include scaling, root planing and polishing.
Scaling and root planing is the process of removing plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces with a variety of methods, depending on the amount of plaque and tartar. Polishing completes the cleaning, making the surface of the teeth smooth and minimizing future plaque build-up.

1. Severe Tooth Pain:
Persistent and severe tooth pain is a clear sign that something is wrong and in need of attention. Toothaches can be caused by tooth decay, infection, abscess, or even a cracked tooth. Intense pain can make it difficult to go about your daily tasks so don’t delay in seeking professional help.
2. Knocked-Out Tooth: It is crucial to act quickly if a tooth has fallen out. A knocked-out tooth has the highest chance of being saved if you can get to the dentist within the first hour. As soon as the tooth is knocked out, rinse it gently with water (don’t scrub) and store it in milk or saliva until you are with the dentist.
3. Broken or Fractured Tooth: A broken or fractured tooth can expose sensitive nerves, increasing chances of infection. Until you can get prompt dental care, treat your broken or fractured tooth by rinsing your mouth with warm water and applying a cold cloth to the affected area to reduce swelling.
4. Swelling or Abscess: Swelling in the face, gums, or jaw along with a bump on the gums may indicate an abscessed tooth. Dental abscesses are serious infections that require immediate treatment to prevent the spread of infection to other parts of the body. Call the dentist immediately.
5. Excessive Bleeding: Excessive and uncontrollable bleeding from the mouth for whatever reason requires immediate emergency dental care. Sustained bleeding may indicate damage to blood vessels or inadequate post-operative care. Seek help right away.

5-Star Google Review
Posted on Google Deborah OverlandJuly 14, 2026 Dr. Pan and her staff provide excellent care and respect indvidual concerns and preferences. Everyone at the office is very friendly and easy to work with. Hygienists all do a great job. Highly recommend.Posted on Google Joan HaleyJuly 13, 2026 I am very pleased with what aligners are accomplishing with my teeth. I had crowding which caused chipped teeth and more. I was dubious at first but am so glad I chose to do it. It’s worth every penny. Fixing teeth would have cost so much more.Posted on Google Jingqi JiaJuly 6, 2026 I had such a great experience at Pan dentistry. I appreciate Dr pan explaining to me about all the options I have for my front teeth, including the upcoming expectations in the next 5-10 years. It does change my mind about the some fast makeover service I saw on the social media. The staff are very friendly. I feel like everyone here is very genuine and honest. I trust my dental care herePosted on Google Dennis AndersenJuly 3, 2026 Dr Pan is knowledgable, pleasant, gentle, and thorough. I feel my dental health is in good hands. And her staff, Jackson, Jayden, Roze, Cindi, Paulina(sp?) are all terrific. I have had very good experiences with all the staff who are gentle, careful, and competent.Posted on Google Qiaoying LiJuly 2, 2026 Posted on Google Michelle RadoJuly 2, 2026 Thorough cleaning great staff!Posted on Google D RipleyJune 24, 2026 Pleasant staff who are always on top of their job responsibilities.Posted on Google Maryanne JohansonJune 19, 2026 So impressed with Dr. Pan and her staff. After skin cancer surgery on my left cheek, I had continuing pain in my upper rear teeth. Dr. Pan did a thorough exam & x-ray. She correctly diagnosed that that the surgeon had most likely hit a facial nerve when injecting anesthetic in my cheek. She explained how the nerves converge in that area. She also assured me that my pain would probably disappear in a few weeks, which it did. I appreciate that careful diagnosis and assurance. I continue to be impressed with her care, skill, and emphasis on preventive dental care My friends and I also appreciate the skill of Jackson, the dental hygienist. He also is skilled and takes the time to explain and demonstrate, when needed, how to best care for our teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Pan and her staff.Posted on Google Art JonsonJune 18, 2026 Dr Pan is great. Very clean, professional office and staff.
